Embroidery is a favored technique among every customer. To assist you in this decision, we have prepared a guide to address common questions that might arise when determining if custom embroidery is the right choice for your project

Limitations of Embroidery

  • It can compromise waterproof materials.
  • Pantone color cannot be matched exactly, although we can help advise you on the closest equivalent.
  • The maximum amount of colors that can be used per design is 12 although this is rarely an issue.
  • The cost is based on size so the best wholesale embroidery pricing is favored toward smaller logos. 
  • Some garment fabric can hold embroidered designs better than others. 
  • It is generally more expensive than other design methods. You pay for the impact of embroidery. 
  • Small text is difficult to reproduce and may not always be readable. 5mm text is the limit, but 8mm text is preferable. Sometimes it might be necessary to make minor adjustments to achieve the best result. Needle and thread can only go so far!

    Available in various thicknesses, typically between 2mm and 6mm, which corresponds to the height of the raised area. Our standard foam is 3MM in thickness.

    What File Format Should I Provide For Puff Embroidery?

    Design Preparation:

    • The design must be digitized specifically for puff embroidery so all you will want to do is send us your logo and specify what area or color you would like puff. From there, we will handle the rest!
    What Design Works Best for 3D Puff Embroidery?

    It's essential to use simpler, bolder designs as this generally works best when using 3D Puff. Think about a typical baseball cap that says "LA" or "NY" for Los Angeles and New York. When these letters are bold, prominent, and center facing, you will find that the puff embroidery comes out beautiful and is what the process is intended for.  Of course you can always push these boundaries and you will want to review any puff embroidery designs with your account manager to discuss the best embroidery outcome!

    • Complexity: Not all designs are suitable for puff embroidery. Designs with very fine details or small text can be problematic because the foam can distort such details.
    • Size Restrictions: Larger areas might not puff as evenly as smaller ones, and too small of surface areas don't puff well.
