Custom Embroidery Techniques

Most Popular

Traditional Embroidery

This traditional embroidery technique is the most common method used on embroidered garments. It involves run stitches to fill in design elements, while borders are typically created using a satin stitch. For text-based designs a full satin stitch is often used. More intricate designs may combine both stitch types for added detail. Our digitizing process, explained further down the page, determines the optimal stitch combination for each design. If you have a preferred embroidery style, let us know, and we’ll tailor it to your vision!

Raised

3D Puff Embroidery

3D puff embroidery, also known as raised or foam embroidery, creates a dimensional effect by putting foam beneath the embroidery threads. As the machine stitches over the foam during production, it lifts the design off the fabric. Once complete, the excess foam is removed and the design is cleaned. Due to the additional labor involved, this technique is slightly more expensive. While most commonly used on hats, 3D puff embroidery can also be applied to dense fabrics like jackets and bags.

Embroidered Patches

Patch Style Embroidery

Embroidered patches are made by stitching a design onto fabric and cutting it into shape. They can be attached to garments using sewing, iron-on adhesive, or Velcro. There are several patch techniques available, with the most popular being woven, sublimated, and embroidered. Each offers unique advantages depending on the complexity and detail of your artwork. If you’re unsure which technique best suits your design, our team is happy to help you choose the perfect option.

Expert Advice

What Are The Advantages & Disadvantages of Embroidery?

Embroidery is a great choice for achieving a professional high-quality look on garments. It works well on a variety of fabrics and designs, adding a durable and premium touch. But, embroidery can be more expensive than other decoration methods, especially with designs larger than 4". Also, fine details and gradients may not translate as smoothly in the thread as they would with screen printing. Regardless, embroidery is an excellent option for businesses and clothing brands seeking to create custom merchandise with a professional appearance.

What types of garments can be embroidered?

We can embroider a variety of garments including t-shirts, hoodies, hats, beanies, jackets, polos, and more.

What is the minimum order?

Our minimum order is just 50 units, but you can mix garment sizes, colors and styles within this.

For example, include blue colored smalls and mediums with yellow larges from t-shirts to hoodies. Or, mix 25 black snapbacks with 25 royal blue snapbacks.

We ask for garment styles to be similar and the setup on the machines to be consistent within an order.

What file do I need to provide for my design?

We convert artwork to a digitized file for the embroidery machines by hand, so the quality of the file isn't too important compared to other decoration techniques.

But, the sharper your artwork is then the more accurate our design team will be, so it's important you try to submit artwork in vector (AI, EPS, PDF) or high quality PNG or JPEG (300 DPI).

Can I mix different garment styles and colors in one order?

Yes, as long as the embroidery design remains consistent, you can mix styles, sizes, and colors in your order.

Do you offer 24 hour rush service?

Yes!

Please contact us as soon as possible, so we can deliver your custom embroidery order by tomorrow.

Can you help with design adjustments?

Absolutely. Your account rep and our graphic designers will review your order to ensure it will look great embroidered. Plus, we offer a sample before production, so you will approve the order before production.
